Godelive Kasangati Kabena was born in 1996, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa, where she discovered photography. In 2017, she participated in a 2 year photography training course initiated by EUNIC-RDC, The Goethe Institute of Kinshasa and the Kinshasa Academy of Fine Arts. Kasanti’s photography focuses on black and white self-portraiture, using masks, isolated or familiar spaces. She uses using staged/constructed photography as her preferred method of expression, and has also created short films. Her work portrays a strong interest in the self and human relationships.
